Looking for Cheap but Quality Makeup?

No need to spend tons of money on makeup these days. We're all feeling the credit crunch, aren't we?

I did a little research and found these online cosmetics companies selling great makeup at a fraction of the cost of MAC.

I list them here

Happy Budget Spending!

Before rushing out to spend good money on makeup products, examine your skin thoroughly as any skincare products purchased will be guided by this vital knowledge.

This all may sound obvious to you but there are so many women who buy the wrong skincare products. I know from experience. I have combination skin type. For years I thought the oily side was greater than my dry patches. Boy, was I wrong. A great dermatologist finally set me straight and I know use two creams to better control the dryness (I explain this down the page). Almost by magic, my foundation didn't "cake" anymore. My skin was properly hydrated. What a relief!

So I invite to really assess your skin by following these steps:
  • Make sure your face is clean and dry.
  • Take a tissue and press it against the whole surface of your face.
  • Check the tissue for oily and dry spots.
Below are your possible options. If you are already satisfied with your skin care information, find out how to prepare your skin for cosmetics.

Skin Care Information

Oily skin

Greasy, oily shine all over your face. Excessive oil production causes pores to clog leading to blackheads, pimples (if prone) and break outs. Try this mask for oily skin. Try reducing greasy foods and switching to healthier options such as salad, protein and fruit. If your skin breaks out frequently, you should really consult a dermatologist and make sure any makeup product is water- based (try mineral makeups)

Dry skin

Dry patches/flakes all over your face but especially on forehead and nose. Your face feels tight and stretched, you feel your face "pulling". Read here for great tips on how to combat very dry skin.

Drink more than the recommended 8 glasses of water per day. Water intake will hydrate your face and help keep dryness under control.  Also, be generous with deeply nourishing masks, these must become part of your weekly routine.

Combination skin

This usually means either a dry face with oily T-zone or oily face with dry T-zone. The T-zone is the area across your forehead and down your nose which forms the letter T.

This is the most common skintype. Use combination skin products or you can use two different creams, a richer one on the dry patches and a lighter cream on oily spots. This is what I do. The top of my nose is very dry but the sides are oily so I apply two creams. I use Oil of Olaz classic beauty fluid on my oily skin and Oil of Olaz Complete Care on my dry skin. I find this a good skin care routine for me.

Normal skin

This is the most balanced skin and also the rarest one. Not many women have this kind of skin. What it means is no oily spots or dry patches. Normal skins don't break out or have pimples. The skin is of normal texture.

Other factors in skin care information

skin creamOther factors can play into skin types, ie, hormones, weather etc, so for example,  even though your skin may be "dry" for most of the year, it could change for short periods of time. The human body is very complex. You'll notice the difference very easily though and will be able to quickly modify your skin care information routine.

And remember, other than the three types of skin above you could have sensitive skin too. This could cause product reactions such as redness, inflamations etc. If this is your case, you should consult a dermatologist and look for soothing products (or all natural products).

washing faceI have sensitive skin which means I can't wear many leading brands. I spent years as a teenager feeling very discouraged by the kind of skin care information I received. Every time I tried a different cream, my skin would become irritated and red. And yes, even some "natural" products. Remember, what I said above: the human body is very complex. I was nearly 30 when I discovered that Oil of Olay worked for me. But this is just my example, it could be different for you. You will have to try many skincare products before finding the suitable one.

But instead of spending tons of money, here's a little "know your skin" tip .

Get samples to try at home. Use the samples found in fashion magazines (they usually come in little pouches on the advertisement pages). Or at the drudstore when you purchase a beauty product. Get samples! The more, the better. This is what I did when I was looking for the right product for me. And thank God. If not, I would have spent a fortune!
