You heard the expression: a smile can go a long way. Deciding to invest in best teeth whitening procedures or even cosmetic dentistry (if needed) is one of the most important beauty decisions you'll make.

How nice it is to see a smile on someone's face. Your husband, a close friend or, even better, your child. A smile comes from the heart, it's true and genuine. It's your best and most natural asset so let's make it count.

I was having dinner with friends recently and was introduced to a lovely, friendly woman of 35. She was very interesting person and entertained us with her many exotic travel stories. It was so fascinating to listen to all the places she had visited, all the people she had met. We had a great evening. However, every time something amusing or funny was said, she covered her mouth to laugh. It was done discreetly but I noticed and felt emphathy. She was hiding her teeth.

I know exactly how she felt. I was like her for many years.

My teeth are far from perfect but they are white now :-)

I'd been struggling with my smile for many years. I went from having perfect teeth as a teenager to having crooked and yellow teeth in my thirties. The older I got the weaker they seemed to become.

Four years ago, I decide to take action.

I put braces on (again!) and for 6 months was a 35 year old nerd :-) I received many stunned glances at cash registers or even at my work place. It was all worth it though. Best Teeth Whitening products work in 2 ways:

  • bleaching the natural tooth enamel beyond its surface. Peroxide formula is usually used for this more intensive and effective procedure. 
  • removing stains on the surface. Chemical agents such as baking soda are using for this and they are generally toothpastes.

Best Teeth Whitening Tooth Pastes

Nowadays, all toothpastes claim to be "whitening" but are they really?

The answer is NO. Some toothpastes are more effective than others though.

If your teeth are not intensily yellow or stained, an effective toothpast could work for you. Most whitening toothpastes include ingredients such as baking soda or calcium peroxide. These are harmless ingredients and you can use them on veneers, dentures etc, although they don't work as well on these artificial surfaces.

Rembrandt Dazzling White is recommended by dentists. It has a money back guarantee (30 days for results) and includes a bleaching gel to make your teeth look whiter. It does work on minor stains or moderate yellow teeth, I find.

Utra Bright Baking soda and Peroxide Whitening is another whitening toothpaste. I find the title a little misleading. It leads us to believe the dosage of the two ingredients is high. It's not but it will still work on very minor stains.

Golgate Total White - Maintains white teeth, doesn't really remove stains. According to me!

Extra tip ==> I know this might sound crazy but it's a proven method for reducing yellow teeth. Eat tomato sauce! You're probably laughing now, I know. But red camouflages yellow + the acidity in the tomatoes remove dirt. Whenever I eat tomato sauce with my pasta, my teeth look sparkling white afterwards. Try it, you've got nothing to lose :-)
