Learning how to clean makeup brushes can save you a lot of money. If you take care of them properly, they will last you a very long time. We're talking years so it's well worth the effort.
Remember to clean them once a week, especially if you use them every day!
If you use very dark or pigmented eye shadows, you mights want to clean them every other day.
Now for the good news, all you need is shampoo and conditioner!
Here are the simple cleaning instructions.
Put some shampoo (not too much) in a glass with little water. Insert your brushes, one at a time, and gently press down the tip on the brush in the shampooed water. Do not wet the handle of the brush. You'll see the dirt come off immediately. Change water and shampoo if it gets too dirty and you still have brushes to clean.
When done, rinse the glass. Put some conditioner in the glass with little water. Again, insert your brushes and repeat the process. Rinse your brushes in water, just like you would your hair. Rinse very well, making sure any product residue is gone.
When finished rinsing, re-shape the bristles with your fingers to make sure they dry in their original shape.
Finally, set your brush down to dry on a towel facing down. Do notleave them to dry standing up or water will trickle down into the handles.
That's it. Simple, huh?
You can also use wet wipes to brush off excess product. This is especially useful in between cleanings or when you don't have time to fully clean your brushes. I also use wet wipes to dampen my brushes when I want my eye shadow to really pop.
